Before renting from this place make sure to read all fine print! I rented a 2 night stay and in my confirmation email there was nothing about having a bike in the room. When I arrived I pushed my "brand new clean" bike into my room. shortly after a knock on the door from the front desk asking us to remove the bikes. I guess there was a piece of paper on the door stating to please leave bike outside. I admitted I must of missed the sign and later on removed the bikes. Staffing understood and was very nice about it. I check out and come to find they charged me a $200 dollar fee for rolling the bikes in. This place will scam you of every penny they can. The billing manager was a complete rude lady as well as a liar! No AC which was never stated anywhere before purchasing. Rent from other companies. This place is the most outdated dump! Only thing going for it is being close to the village.
I’ve also been searching places to eat breakfast - one local place opens at 930am or we have to pay $12/person at the junction it seems. So far - I won’t be coming back to snowshoe because of the lack of “normal” priced places to eat in the area.
Check in at Alleghany Springs was great - then you come to the lodge and wish you were staying where you checked in.
Simple rooms, nothing special but exactly what we need. Ski in ski out at Snowshoe, warm and comfortable.
I'll give Mountain Lodge 2 stars. Not because it didn't meet expectations, it was great. The room was cleaned, and being able to park at the lodge was a blessing. When staying at Snowshoe you usually have to park in general parking and ride the bus. However, the two cackling hags that were at the front desk at night were very judgmental. They kept calling me sir, I'm clearly a woman, I was sitting in the lobby and heard them talk about everyone and everything that passed by. Not only are they homophobic but racist as well. I heard from my own ears them talking about the "fags" and "towel heads" that had just checked in. The next day I was so glad their shift was over and a breath of fresh air was behind that desk. You could tell this girl, who calls herself Zen was not only a diverse person but also very funny. She was sweet and answered all of our questions, the same questions we asked the night shift but couldn't get an answer from. Zen was not only doing the job of two people, but doing it right. The only thing the night shift girls wanted to do was offend people and play around on their phones. I would give Mountain Lodge 5 stars if there were more Zens' working there.
I hope to save someone the feeling I have right now. Do. Not. Stay. Here. So far I’ve made a pretty bad, expensive decision.
The photos are deceiving. The room (356) has tube TVs and VCRs with a very outdated sofa. However we will sleep on the sleeper sofa tomorrow night because this room has a window with terrible blinds - outside of the window is the hallway to get to the rooms... with lights shining in all night. We have towels over the window but it still comes through. We also can’t figure out the temperature controls - everything is turned down and it’s a sauna in here.
This place is a dump. Very outdated and smells awful. Everything is dirty. There was popcorn on the stairs the whole 4 days of our stay. The fitness facility they list on their website is 4 machines that were all broken. Paid $30 For my son and I to use the split rock pool and hot tubs only to find out both hot tubs had broken motors. The pool was dirty and in need of some updating which does most everything at this resort. Who manages these places and how do they not see the dirt and grime everywhere. Could be a nice resort if they'd put some money into much needed renovations. The.view is amazing and the village is cool. Everything closes so early though.
